Rich Koppes is a Senior Advisor to CamberView Partners.
Mr. Koppes is widely regarded as a pioneer of corporate governance. He is the former Deputy Executive Officer and General Counsel of the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS), the largest public pension fund in the United States, where he led the corporate governance program after building it from the ground up. For the past 15 years, he has advised boards of directors on how to navigate the institutional investor community.
Mr. Koppes is the founder, past President, and former Administrative Officer of the National Association of Public Pension Attorneys (NAPPA), and he serves on the boards of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) and the Investor Responsibility Research Center (IRRC) Institute. Mr. Koppes is also a current Program Fellow at the Rock Center for Corporate Governance at Stanford Law School. He was a member of the NACD Blue Ribbon Commissions on Board Evaluations and Board-Shareholder Communications, as well as the NACD-CII Task Force on Shareholder/Director Communications. In 2007, NACD presented him with the group’s highest honor, its lifetime achievement award for contributions to corporate governance.
Mr. Koppes also served on four Corporate Boards.
